World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. This can be a disadvantage in that it could cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their equipment.
